One of the biggest fields of the year representing all sections of the club turned out for Philip Gonzalez’s Captains Day. The main event might have been the Captains trophy played from the blue championship tees, but Phil and the club had arranged a nine hole mixed team stableford on the main course and a short course competition for our new lady members with prizes for nearest the pin on the 2nd and the 6th holes. Anyone who has played the par three course will know how difficult it is to get the ball to stay on the green on those two holes so well done ladies.
This years white tee competition was won by Punit Pattni. Punit got his round off to great start with a birdie on the first followed by 10 pars scoring an impressive 39 pts beating senior’s Peter Balding by 2 points and John Towers by 3 pts.
The Captains Trophy was won for a second time by Tong Tse; Tong had an impressive 13 pars and 2 birdies on his way to an excellent 41 points beating Ben Hopkinson by 2 points while another past winner Steve Crowhurst was third with 35 pts.
