Not long to go now! We’ll soon be back on the fairways. Everybody on the committee hopes that you are keeping safe and well and that you are ready for the new season.
Competitions will resume on the 1st of April, starting with the Seniors’ April Medal. Fixtures will soon appear on the club website and some are already on HowDidIDo waiting for you to enter. Until further notice there will be no charges made for entry to competitions and, therefore, no prizes given. Honours boards will be updated with this year’s results. A further notice about Knockouts will follow shortly.
Please remember that we are now subject to the World Handicap System (WHS). WHS calculates your Handicap Index by averaging the best 8 scores from your last 20 so the more scores that a player puts into the system the better will her/his Handicap Index reflect her/his current ability.
We no longer need to wait for a “qualifying competition”. If a few criteria are met, any round can qualify including 9 holes but at the time of writing 9 hole rounds are only available to the ladies playing from the Red tees. We are still waiting for assessment of the other tees.
The criteria to be met are:
• The round must be strokeplay (including stableford) – matchplay is not admissible.
• The round must be in the company of another club member who holds a valid handicap Index
• It must be played to the Rules of Golf – e.g. no gimmes.
• You must “Sign In” before you play.
• You must agree your score with your marker
• Your completed scorecard must be sent to the committee by photo attached to an email to casrounds@littlehaygolfclub.co.uk
Sign IN and Score Entry should both be done via the Mobile Score Input feature of HowDidIDo and a detailed procedure is attached to this email. Anyone who does not yet have a Handicap Index must photograph their scorecard and send it as an email attachment for the committee to process. The email should have the words “FOR HANDICAP” in the title and must be sent to casrounds@littlehaygolfclub.co.uk.
In the extreme, for those who have insurmountable difficulty using HowDidIDo, a card can be sent to the committee for score entry using the email facility as above with the email showing “CASUAL ROUND” in the title. Prior notice of the intention to play must also be given by email to casrounds@gmail.com
Please note that use of this last facility will make use of somebody else’s time and the timing of input could be seriously delayed.
HowDidIDo is now well established as the best medium for entry to competitions and the Mobile Score Entry facility is the club’s preferred method for returning scores for Medals and Stablefords. Please familiarise yourself with it and make full use of it.
England Golf have produced a guide to the WHS for players and this can be accessed via the link here: .https://www.Englandgolf.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Rules-of-Handicapping-Player-Reference-Guide.pdf
