All sections mixed team event the Doughty Cup. Club Captain
Trevor Sargents team of club champion Sam Deering, Ladies
champion and golfer of the year Chris Woodcock and senior
Tony Hodson would claim this years trophy with a fantastic Nett
64 off a team handicap of 8.
In second place Paul Whiter, Harry Miller, Peter Balding and
Jackie Pearson with an impressive Nett 66 playing off a team
handicap of 9.

Saturday October 14th
Needle Shield held at Bushey G&CC
Bushey G&CC win by 63 points 356 from Little Hay in Second 293 Panshanger third with 285.

Sunday October 1st
The road to Scotland and the UK Public Golf Course Championship began in early May for Little Hay members
Phil Chester, Jerry Clarke and Nick Brown when all qualified via Mays medal for a place in regional qualifying during August and Little Hay had the honour to host the South East of England qualifying event were
Phil Chester Division 1 and Jerry Clarke Division 2 both booked their place in the final.
October 1st and 93 players from around the country arrived in St Andrews for the final to be played on the Eden course. 31 players would compete for the Division one title won by Phil Chester with 38 points and crowned Division one champion 2017. Jerry Clarke was up against 21 players in Division two but a gross 80 and 42 points would see him crowned division two champion.
This is the first time in our forty year history where we have held both mens Divisions one and two
championship trophys.

The seniors played their senior championship, 36 holes played over two days.
With trophys for the best gross, and younger and slightly older seniors best Nett.
Senior championship winner Paul Mudds good form continues with a gross 2 round total of 155
2nd Mick Milne 166  3rd John Redgwell 172.
Younger Senior won by Ross Dorras with a Nett 2 round score of 144 2nd Paul Mudd 145 and 3rd Phil Joslin 149.
Slightly older senior won by John Murphy with a Nett two round score of 144
2nd Quinto Rafique 154 and 3rd Sylvester Nolan 157

Presidents Day; Little Hays last major competition of 2017 took place, however before the winners were given their trophies a small presentation was held bringing our 40th anniversary celebrations to a close. President Ralph Lane, club captain Trevor Sargent and David Dean presented a cheque for 4,524.70 pounds to Doreen Beattie who gratefully accepted it on behalf of Rennie Grove Hospice Care.  Special thanks go to event sponsors Orchid Estate Agents and managing director Matthew Bennett.

The presidents putter played from the championship tees won by Tong Tse with 12 pars scoring an impressive 38 pts
2nd Phil Chester 36 pts 3rd on count back Chris Dorsett.

The Ladies presidents putter red tees won by Chris Woodcock with 4 pars scoring 37 pts
2nd Hee Young Crowhurst 33 pts 3rd Trish Joslin 32 pts

Ralph Lane presented medals to Thomas Ashton and Harry Miller the youngest players to take part from the blue tees today both scoring 27pts.

Round one was played in very strong winds making club selection very difficult. But Sam Deerings steady 84 Nett 76 on Saturday followed by his fantastic 3 over par 75 Nett 67 on Sunday saw him become  Little Hay Club Champion for 2017.

 A large number of Past Captain's gathered for the Annual Captain's V Past Captain's Match and for the first time the Past Captain's team were victorious 4.5-3.5

The traditional sweep was held on the combined driving distance of the 4 captains 610 Yards. The sweep was won by Nigel Hopkinson with 609 Yards.
